This page explains how Descript Mastery ("we," "us," or "our") handles your information, and the terms for using descriptmastery.com, our courses, and our YouTube channel, Make Videos with Ross. By using our site or courses, you agree to this Privacy Policy and these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, please don't use our site.

Privacy Policy

What we collect

We only collect personal information that you choose to give us, such as when you:

• Sign up for a free class, email list, or waitlist
• Buy a course or book tutoring
• Post in our community or send us a message, feedback, or a survey answer

This usually means your name, your email address, and your payment details. Payments are processed securely by Kajabi, Stripe, and PayPal. We never see or store your full card number.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use our site, such as which pages are viewed, how people find us, and where they get stuck. This helps us improve our content and courses. These tools use cookies, which are small text files that help a website recognize repeat visitors and measure usage. Cookies are not programs and can't harm your computer.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some site features, like staying logged in to your course, may not work without them. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

• Deliver the courses, classes, and services you signed up for or bought
• Send you emails you asked for, such as class reminders and video tips
• Contact you about your account, purchases, or important course updates
• Answer your questions and provide support
• Improve our website, videos, and courses

We don't sell your information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the business (such as Kajabi, Stripe, PayPal, and our analytics tools), and only so they can do that work for us. We may also share information if the law requires it, or if it's needed to protect our rights, our users, or anyone else from harm. When we share statistics with others, they are only combined totals that don't identify anyone.

Third-party services

Some links or features on our site are run by other companies. We aren't responsible for their practices, so please read their privacy policies before giving them your information.

Community posts

Anything you post in a community area, comments section, or chat can be seen by other people. Please don't share private information there.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe: Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. You can opt out at any time. We may still send you important messages about your account or purchases.
• Correct your information: Ask us and we'll update anything that's wrong.
• Delete your information: Email ross@descriptmastery.com and we'll delete your personal information. A small amount may remain in backups or records we're legally required to keep.

Children's privacy

Our site and courses are not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. We follow the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Visitors outside the United States

Descript Mastery is based in the United States and follows U.S. federal and state law. We also respect the rights of visitors in the European Union and elsewhere under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including your right to access, correct, or delete your personal information. YouTube API Services

Our internal app, Comment Responder, uses the YouTube Data API and the YouTube Analytics API only to manage our own YouTube channel, Make Videos with Ross. It is used to:

• Read and reply to comments on our videos
• Update our own video descriptions
• View our channel's statistics

Comment Responder does not access other users' YouTube accounts. It doesn't store or share YouTube user data beyond what's needed for these tasks, and we never sell YouTube data.

By interacting with our channel, you're also bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and YouTube data is handled under the Google Privacy Policy. You can revoke any app's access to your Google account at any time from your Google security settings.

Terms of Use

Personal learning use

Our courses, videos, and materials are for your own personal learning. You may not resell, share, copy, or redistribute them, including your login, without our written permission. All content is owned by Descript Mastery.

Content provided as-is

We work hard to keep our lessons accurate and up to date, but video editing tools change often. Our content is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, and results are not guaranteed.

Refunds

Refunds follow the policy shown at checkout when you buy.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Descript Mastery is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages from using our site, courses, or materials. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the product in question.

Changes to this page

We may update this Privacy Policy and these Terms of Use from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. If you keep using our site after changes are posted, you accept the updated version.
